Good paper comes
in different sizes.
The size of the sheet changes how much space you have. Your grid spacing and shape measurements stay the same.

A4 and Letter are close, but different.
A4 is 210 × 297 mm. US Letter is 215.9 × 279.4 mm (8.5 × 11 inches). Letter is 5.9 mm wider and 17.6 mm shorter. Printing one with “Fit” on the other changes the pattern’s scale.
B5 needs a little care.
This studio uses ISO B5: 176 × 250 mm. Japanese JIS B5 is 182 × 257 mm, a different size. Check the dimensions in your printer’s paper settings.
Portrait or landscape?
Landscape swaps the width and height. It does not rotate a portrait design after drawing it: the sheet is laid out again for the new writing area. That changes the number of rows, columns, or complete shapes.
Named media dimensions are documented in W3C CSS Paged Media. ISO A6 is 105 × 148 mm; Half Letter is half of a Letter sheet at 5.5 × 8.5 inches. All inches use the exact conversion of 25.4 mm per inch.
