These terms cover Paperbench at paperbench.org, its tools, and downloads. By using the site, you agree to these terms. The separate CC0 dedication below governs the original template artwork.

Template permissions

Our original generated grid, writing, staff, chart, and shape template artwork is dedicated to the public domain under CC0 1.0 Universal. You can download, print, adapt, and redistribute the PDF, SVG, or PNG sheets for personal projects, teaching, and commercial work. Attribution is welcome and is not required for those templates.

This dedication applies to the original template artwork. The website brand, site text, and application source are separate materials. Third-party materials have their own permissions. You are responsible for the rights in any designs, music, patterns, or other content you add to a sheet.

Using the tools

The studio, saved library, and pack builder run in your browser. Browser storage can be cleared or unavailable, so download files you want to keep. Sharing a settings link shares the layout parameters; the studio’s Copy settings link leaves personal titles out. Review downloaded files and share cards before posting them.

Use the site lawfully. Do not attempt to compromise its security, distribute malicious content, disrupt the service, or generate fraudulent ad clicks, impressions, or usage events.

Check printed dimensions

The files store the dimensions shown in their specifications. Printer settings, paper handling, import settings, and drafting scale can change the physical result. Print at Actual Size and measure a test square before cutting or relying on a precise fit.

Templates are general-purpose planning and practice aids. They do not replace construction instructions, required seam allowances, a measured knitting swatch, or specialized professional advice. The measurement guide explains how the layouts are made.

Advertising, analytics, and third-party links

Paperbench may support its free tools through advertising, including Google AdSense. Advertising placements are labeled. An advertisement or external link does not mean that Paperbench endorses the advertiser, product, or website. Any purchase or other interaction with an advertiser is between you and that third party and is subject to its own terms.

Google Analytics, when enabled, helps us understand site usage. Analytics and advertising may involve cookies, identifiers, and data sharing with Google or other service providers. The privacy policy explains the data involved, Google’s policies, and your choices.

Agreement to these terms does not grant consent to optional analytics or advertising cookies. Where consent is required, those choices are handled separately through the site’s privacy controls. Declining optional consent does not change the CC0 permissions for downloaded templates.

Availability and responsibility

We aim to provide useful, accurate templates, but the site and files are provided as available, without a promise of uninterrupted access or suitability for every project. Check outputs before relying on them and keep copies of work you need. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not responsible for losses caused by reliance on an unchecked printout, unavailable service, or lost browser storage. Nothing in these terms limits rights or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded.
