How Paperbench handles saved sheets, site usage information, and advertising.

This policy applies to Paperbench at paperbench.org. No account is needed to use the paper tools. Google Analytics runs only if you allow optional analytics cookies. Google AdSense advertising is currently off.

Saved templates and files

Saved template lists and print packs use this browser’s local storage. A pack recipe may contain a title you entered. Paperbench’s tools do not upload those recipes or synchronize them to an account. They stay on this browser and device until you remove them or clear the site’s storage.

Customized PDF, SVG, PNG, and share-card files are created in your browser. A downloaded file or share card can include your chosen title. Check it before sharing. The studio’s Copy settings link leaves out your personal title, but its layout settings appear in the URL.

Clear saved sheets

Remove the saved template list and print pack from this browser. Downloaded files and cookie consent choices are kept.

Page requests and feedback

The hosting service receives information needed to deliver pages and downloads, such as your IP address, requested URL, browser details, and request time. This information can be used to operate the site, diagnose problems, and prevent abuse. Shared settings URLs may appear in host logs, browser history, or a referring page address. Keep personal information out of URLs.

The feedback tool downloads a note to your device; it does not send it automatically. If you send us a message, we receive the information you choose to include and use it to respond and handle your request.

Cookies and similar technology

Cookies are small records stored by your browser. Local storage is another way to keep information on your device. Paperbench uses local storage for the saved sheets you choose to keep. A consent provider may also store your privacy choices. When enabled and permitted by your choices, Google Analytics and advertising partners can use cookies, identifiers, pixels, or similar technology for the purposes below.

Google Analytics

When enabled, we use Google Analytics to understand which pages people use and improve the template library and tools. It can collect page views, interactions, referring URLs, device and browser information, approximate location, and cookie-based identifiers. Google processes this information to provide usage reports. The paper tools do not upload the contents of your saved sheets or generated files.

Our integration removes query strings and fragments from the page address sent to Analytics and limits referring addresses to the site’s page path or an external site’s origin. It does not send custom sheet titles or saved pack contents. Google advertising signals and ad personalization are disabled for this Analytics integration.

Read how Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services and Google Analytics privacy information. You can also use Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on in supported browsers.

Google AdSense and advertising partners

When advertising is enabled, Paperbench uses Google AdSense to help fund the free templates. Google and other third-party advertising vendors may place and read cookies, use web beacons or IP addresses, and receive device and browsing information to deliver and measure ads and detect fraud.

Google and its partners can use advertising cookies to show personalized ads based on your previous visits to Paperbench and other websites. This depends on applicable consent requirements and your settings. Non-personalized ads can still involve cookies or other data for purposes such as measurement and fraud prevention.

You can manage Google ad personalization in Google’s Ad Settings and review participating vendors’ opt-out choices at the Digital Advertising Alliance’s choices page. Turning off personalization does not necessarily remove all ads. Where a consent message is shown, its vendor list identifies the participating ad providers and links to their privacy information. See also Google’s advertising information.

Consent and privacy choices

Where consent is required, optional analytics and advertising must wait for your choice. If a consent message is shown, use its controls to accept or reject optional purposes and review participating vendors. You can return to those controls to change or withdraw consent. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal. Using the site or accepting its terms is not consent to optional cookies.

– review your analytics choice or choose Decline to withdraw consent.

We remember an analytics choice in this browser for up to 180 days, then ask again. Analytics cookies use a Paperbench prefix and have a maximum lifetime of 180 days without extending on each visit. Withdrawing consent stops further Analytics collection and removes these cookies. It does not remove saved templates or downloaded files.

You can also block or delete cookies and site data in your browser. Clearing all site data removes your saved sheets and can reset consent choices. Paperbench suppresses optional Analytics and its ad requests when the browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal.

Purposes, retention, and service providers

We use information to deliver the requested tools, maintain and secure the site, respond to messages, and, when enabled, understand usage and support advertising. Where data protection law requires a legal basis, site operation and security rely on our legitimate interests, responses may be needed to handle your request, and optional cookies or personalized advertising rely on consent where required.

Saved sheets remain in your browser until removed. Hosting logs and correspondence are retained for operational, security, and request-handling needs. Google service data is subject to the relevant service’s retention settings and policies. Google and its providers may process information in countries outside your own, subject to the safeguards described in Google’s Privacy Policy. Deleting browser storage does not itself delete data already held by a service provider.

Your privacy rights

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal data, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or complain to a data protection authority. Some US state laws provide rights to opt out of sale or sharing of personal information or targeted advertising; advertising-related disclosures can fall within those definitions. Use available privacy controls or contact us to make a request. Rights and exceptions depend on the law that applies to you.
